Robin van Persie hit a 90th minute equalizer to temporarily place Manchester United’s name in the FA Cup fourth round draw following a 2-2 draw with West Ham.
In keeping with the traditions of the cup, the tie was played with great attacking intent and ambition as both sides looked to gain the upper hand throughout different periods of the match.
Tom Cleverley gave the Reds a first-half lead with a tidy finish on 22 minutes, though that advantage didn’t last long as James Collins headed Joe Cole’s cross home just moments later.
After the break, Cole and Collins rekindled their partnership to fire the Hammers into what was arguably an undeserved lead, forcing United to stare down the barrel of a shock exit at Upton Park.
Thankfully, substitute van Persie held his nerve, latching onto Ryan Giggs’ superb pass to control inside the area and finish past Jussi Jaaskelainen with his weaker right-foot.
