Gallery Made of Manchester Event

Gallery: All hail Manchester

A great night was had by all at the recent Made of Manchester event to showcase Nike’s special clothing collection.

United stars Tom Cleverley and Chris Smalling were both in attendance on a night which brought together key figures from Manchester’s sporting, entertainment and creative fields at the Museum of Science & Industry in the city centre. Former players Quinton Fortune and Andy Ritchie were also there as were some celebrity Reds, including indie dance band Delphic and Countdown’s Rachel Riley.

Like the Reds’ current playing kit, the Made of Manchester range is inspired by gingham, a pattern produced en masse in Manchester’s mills in the mid-18th century.

The leisurewear was on show at the event which featured on-stage interviews with Cleverley and Smalling and kitman Albert Morgan, as well as a recital of ‘The Threads That Weave’ poem which was penned especially for the campaign by Mancunian wordsmith Mike Garry.

The players also recorded personal messages about what the city means to them in the Made of Manchester video booth, while an impressive media chandelier projected images of players and fans posing with cards featuring their thoughts on Manchester.
