Ferguson wins top honour

Sir Alex Ferguson has been named the Barclays Manager of the Month for October.

The Reds boss guided United to three wins from three Premier League games, a run that included 10 goals scored, two victories away from home and a first sucess at Stamford Bridge for more than a decade.

At the conclusion of the month, the Reds had moved to within a point of league-leaders Chelsea.

Sir Alex is no stranger to the Manger of the Month award, of course. This is the 27th occasion he’s had the honour bestowed upon him.

“We’ve got a great set up here,” he said. “I’ve got great staff and the players, of course, they are the reason I’m getting this award. There is no question about that.

“I am very pleased.”

The boss’s next assignment comes in European competition, as the Reds travel to Portugal to take on SC Braga on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
