An entertaining encounter at Old Trafford ended on a positive note for the Reds who were forced to come from behind to beat Tony Pulis’ Stoke City side.
Wayne Rooney put through his own net before heading home an equaliser at the other end. Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck netted either side of half-time to give United a 3-1 lead, but Michael Kightly gave the visitors hope with a low finish past De Gea after evading the attentions of three defenders. Rooney made sure of the victory soon after, though, with a close-range finish from a corner.
The 4-2 win keeps United four points behind leaders Chelsea, who also came from behind to beat Tottenham at White Hart Lane earlier in the day.
