Sir Alex Ferguson 25 Years Story | League 2002-2003

League 2002/03

United always come good after Christmas. So the old adage goes, and it was never more clearly evidenced than in 2002/03.

Despite the arrival of club-record signing Rio Ferdinand, the Reds’ attempt to dethrone Arsenal got off to an inauspicious start, with only two wins from the first six games. But a 2-0 victory over the Gunners at Old Trafford in December brought us right back into contention at the top of the table.

Sir Alex’s men, fired by goal-machine Ruud van Nistelrooy, really clicked into gear in the New Year, though Arsenal, to their credit, continued to keep us at arm’s length.

However, United were unstoppable in the run-in, winning nine of the last 10 games to turn a five-point deficit into a five-point final winning margin. Title no.15 was secured.

We hope you enjoy re-living all the best moments from the 2002/03 campaign in our free video above.
