Sean McGinty is a talented defender who arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2009.
The former Charlton Athletic man has represented the Republic of Ireland at youth levels despite being born in Maidstone, Kent.
McGinty spent three years at Charlton before agreeing to move north to Manchester and excelled as a regular starter during his first season with the Under-18s, making 21 appearances (only one of those from the bench) for Paul McGuinness’ side.
He played his part in the squad that lifted the FA Youth Cup in 2011, pushing for starts in the full-back slot and impressing with his power and aggression.
Forcing his way into Warren Joyce’s Reserves side in 2011/2012, he has the physical prowess to be able to hold his own at that level and ended up making seven starts with another three appearances off the bench.
The fact that he did not feature more was largely down to injury and a loan move to Morecambe, where he was beginning to impress before dislocating his shoulder whilst on League Two duty.
A loan spell with Oxford United should enable him to gain plenty of first-team opportunities during the 2012/2013 campaign.
