Hannover 96 v Manchester United Match Preview

Hannover 96 v United

Date, time and coverage: Saturday 11 August 2012, 20:20 local (19:20 BST) kick-off. Live on MUTV and MUTV Online (UK and Ireland only). Match report & reaction on ManUtd.com.

State of play: United’s final game of the DHL 2012 pre-season tour promises to be a tough examination against well-drilled Bundesliga outfit Hannover. With goals at a premium of late, the Reds will aim to start hitting the net and pick up the Chevrolet Cup. Hannover are fresh from easing past St Patrick’s Athletic in the Europa League preliminaries on Thursday and have looked sharp in attack during their pre-season with 9-0 and 12-0 wins among their results.

Ins and outs: Phil Jones’ back problem will be asssessed while Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans are still sidelined. Olympians Tom Cleverley and Ryan Giggs could be available again but Rafael is still involved in the tournament’s final. The hosts at the AWD-Arena will be without Mame Biram Diouf through injury but another former Red, Ron-Robert Zieler, should keep goal.

Last game: This is the first time that the two teams have met competitively.

Opposition boss: Mirko Slomka took over the reins at die Roten in early 2010 and guided the team to fourth in the Bundesliga the following year. The 5-0 aggregate win against St Patrick’s moves the club closer to another season of Europa League football after reaching the quarter-finals last term.
